Abu Zayd

Engineering & Client Experience Specialist

Abu Zayd brings a unique blend of technical expertise and deeply personal understanding to the disability support sector. Equipped with a PhD in engineering and  over a decade of experience in research and development across prestigious universities and government research organisations, he knows how to tackle complex challenges with analytical precision.

But what truly sets Abu Zayd apart is his journey as a father of a child with Autism. This personal experience has taken him through the intricate maze of disability support services, giving him firsthand insight into what families need and expect from care providers. His interactions with various , organisations, and support services in pursuit of the best outcomes for his son have equipped him with an invaluable perspective on what works – and what doesn’t – in disability support.

As a key Bridging Gap’s leadership team member, Abu Zayd combines his engineering mindset with his lived experience to ensure our services truly resonate with clients and their families. His unique position as both a professional and a parent means he approaches service delivery with both head and heart, understanding that every decision we make impacts our clients and their families’ aspirations.

His focus areas include:

  • Use of his technical expertise to research and develop innovative strategies in delivering the best care possible for our clients and their families.

Abdul

Dedicated Leader in Disability Support

Abdul originally trained as an engineer, brings years of dedication, rich experience in disability, mental health, and youth work sectors, as well as sales/market development leadership to the Bridging Gaps leadership team.

Abdul is passionate about making a positive impact, and specializes in providing holistic, person-centred care and trauma-informed approach that empowers individuals to achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Abdul’s interactions with people with disability started from close connections he had with two visually impaired classmates during his junior high school days in his home country. The cherished memories formed the foundation of Abdul’s journey into making a difference in the lives of people with disability.

Abdul’ s friendly, empathetic and professional approach, ensuring clients feel valued, heard, and supported has made him an asset to people with disability that he has supported.

Abdul’s focus and commitment is geared towards empowering people with disability, fostering their independence, confidence and personal growth in safe and inclusive environments.

Abdul has various qualifications ranging from a Bachelor degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention and a Diploma of Mental Health.

Rihanat

A Seasoned Family Services Practitioner

Rihanat is a skilled and compassionate family services practitioner with qualifications in Public Health, Training & Assessment, Counselling, Community Services and Child Care. With extensive work experience in the community services sector and driven by holistic, family-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches, Rihanat is passionate about supporting and empowering families including those having people with disabilityto achieve their goals and enhance their well-being.

Rihanat has worked extensively with families of children with disabilityunder the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Approach, advocating for their needs, connecting them with appropriate resources, and helping families understand their rights.

Rihanat combines her broad knowledge and experience of working with children and families, and is committed to fostering resilience, building strong relationships, and advocating for inclusive communities.
